Tip #1: We have native sea snakes called the Katuali that are highly venomous. The Katuali is a flat-tail sea snake – Laticauda schistorhyncha, and it’s fangs are located at the back of their throats. This creature mostly spends its entire adult life at sea and can dislocate their lower jaw to bite small prey. Fortunately, it is harmless to humans because it cannot bite large prey due to its small mouth. So do not panic or disturb the Katuali if you see one swimming beside you. There have been no record of injuries or deaths caused by the Katuali. However, everyone is advised to respect the Katuali and no harm shall come to you. The Katuali is a black and white stripped sea snake, highly distinguishable to spot in the water.
